TRU Early Childhood Education Practica

Weytk,

Welcome to TRU Early Childhood Education (ECE) Practica. Students, mentors and faculty instructors will find important information about practica courses in the TRU ECE Diploma, Infant Toddler and Inclusive Practices Certificate Programs. In each course, students are placed in childcare sites to gain practical experience and apply course learning.

Practicum placements support students as they incorporate learning and theory into their practice as early childhood educators. TRU ECE partners with community, early years programs providing space for ECE students to explore professional practice in collaborative learning environments. Practica courses focus on relational, responsive care, collaborative teamwork and professional, practical and pedagogical skill development. Mentor educators, TRU faculty and students work together with children, program staff, and their cohort to explore course material, engage in applied research and build and document collaborative knowledge and curriculum that aligns with the vision of the BC Early Learning Framework (2019) “respectfully living and learning together”.

Please take some time to explore this site and familiarize yourself with the documents, forms and resources you will need to support collaborative learning and practice in TRU ECE Practica courses.

We thank you for your continued support ECE students and becoming early childhood educators. If you have any questions please reach out to your student’s instructor or the TRU ECE Practica Coordinator.
